When this family came to us, the brief was simple and lovely: a fifth birthday that felt less like a party and more like stepping into a storybook garden. Their daughter is wild about wildflowers, fairies, and anything that sparkles after dusk — so we built an entire afternoon around that world, set in a private garden estate tucked into the hills of Bel-Air.
The venue
The estate's existing rose garden did half the work for us. We staged the celebration across the lower lawn, with the children's tables nestled under a canopy of mature olive trees and the dessert moment positioned against a living wall of climbing jasmine. Because the garden was already so generous, our styling stayed light — we wanted the space to feel discovered, not decorated.
The design
The palette grew straight out of the garden: soft butter yellow, blush, sage, and the faintest lilac, with antique brass and unlacquered candlelight for warmth. Our floral team built loose, just-picked arrangements that spilled across the tables, and we hung a low cloud of fairy lights so that — as the afternoon turned to early evening — the whole garden began to glow exactly the way a five-year-old imagines magic should.
The day
Forty-five guests, twenty of them under the age of seven, and not a single frazzled moment. Our on-site team handled the timeline, the vendor load-in, the children's activity stations, and the quiet choreography that lets parents actually enjoy the party. The birthday girl had a flower crown made for her, a storybook fairy who appeared right on cue, and a cake she will almost certainly be talking about for years.
It is exactly the kind of celebration we love most: personal, unhurried, and designed end-to-end so the family could simply be guests at their own party.
